Research interests
My research interests center around the discovery and characterization of novel specialized metabolites from bacteria, such as natural products or coenzymes. This includes determining and understanding their structure, function, and biosynthesis.
Current and former research topics include:
- Characterization of novel natural products, especially ribosomally synthesized and post-translationally modified peptides (RiPPs)
- Applying untargeted metabolomics for the discovery of novel natural products, especially in the context of co-cultures
- Development of software for LC-MS data analysis
- The role of lanthanides (rare-earh elements) in methylotrophy
- Biochemistry of methylotrophy and one-carbon metabolism, and especially the involved coenzyme methylofuran
